This group is starting to get WAY off topic. This group is about Elektron
gear, not what stuff people think is cool, or what so and so's band is doing.
Let's keep it ON TOPIC or else take your biz to Harmony Central or some other
mixed discussion forum.

There's been plenty of off topic subjects - dude. Too many in fact, if it
isn't Elektron based, it doesn't belong here - dude. - K

I agree with the "OT" in the subject line idea, just to quiet the "I don't
want no OT post" people, I enjoy reading all the stuff. Or Elektron can come
out with some new hardware so we will have lots of elektron stuff to talk
about :D

here is my suggestion: just write "OT" in front of your subject of
your post.. how is that?

This is a mailing list for users of Elektron musical equipment. No one,
not you, not me, will mandate what said users choose to talk about.

To be perfectly honest, I prefer lists in which folk feel free to chat
about this and that. Here, there's always an Elektron connection, even if
it's merely just that the person who sent a given message either uses
Elektron gear or was interested enough in Elektron to join the list.

If someone goes way off topic to the extreme where I'm just not
interested, well, I don't HAVE to read the whole message, and neither does
anyone else.

Hey - THIS IS AN ELEKTRON USERS FORUM. It isn't an online chat session about
movies, girls, Nord Leads, Roland Jupiter 4's etc etc etc..... If you have
something to say about an ELEKTRON product, then by all means say it,
otherwise take your chat to an online forum or AIM one of your online
buddies. Oh, and if you don't like it, then go somewhere else, cause you
don't have to read it.

Right, this is an Elektron USERS forum, not an Elektron PRODUCT forum. If
a fellow Sidstation user or one of those MD yahoos wants to post about
girls, Nord Leads, Roland Jupiter 4's, etc, then all the power to 'em.

After all, it could just the ticket to stir the creative juices for one of
their fellow USERs. Maybe someone will visit the link Shifty/Crackpot
posted and get some ideas for a new piece. Maybe you should visit that
link. :)

I'm all about creativity, not rigid conformance to some totalitarian
thought control.

If you want to read about Elektron's products and nothing else, I'm sure
the product section on their website can serve the purpose.

Okay, first, does anybody else find it humorous that this thread about
off-topic messages is just as off-topic as any of the off-topic threads
being complained about?

Second, last time I checked policing content was the job of the Moderators
-- not the lay-users. If anyone's really that concerned, I'd advise
sending off a quick message to the referees rather than generating noise
that will have little effect beyond the general entertainment of the group.

fyi :

it is possible to set up your yahoo account so that you don't receive
emails from a given mailing-list.
That's what I do and my mailbox doesn't get stuffed with things I can
read somewhere else, whenever I want.

Does someone have information about the Elektron team working on a
new piece of gear ? or are they "just" refining the MD OS and solving
the problems appearing on some MDs ?

Are there any of you attending the Elektron party on october the
26th ? If any, I hope there will be some report on this list, whether
OT-labeled or not.

Last : a call to Nils who had recreated a string sound with the MD
and who had hinted his demo would be featured on the official website.
Do you know if/when this wille happen. Could you explain us how you
did ? Would you upload your "patch" ?

Thanx

Xavier

First a comment as an admin of this forum: OT is OK to some degree imo, but
the signal/noise ratio has been going up lately. Let's keep it interesting
and connected to Elektron in some way or the other. This is indeed the
Elektron-users group, so let's share tips, music, ideas, patches, anything
related to the gear we all love so much.

Second, and more importantly: let's treat eachother with respect. Don't
start name-calling or flamewars. I haven't interfered in any discussions so
far because the atmosphere was really great in here, let's keep it that way!

Cheers,
Joeri

That's always a good idea--those posters who knowingly post something
that's off-topic should indicate it on the subject line, and in return
those who despise off-topic posting should just try to be civil and cool
about the occasional slip-up. Also, some people may just have differing
ideas about what is "on-topic" and "off-topic".

Really, though, people should just be civil. If someone posts a humorous
link with a wink at their fellow users, there's just no reason for someone
to fly off their rocker about it.
