MD midi note off?

MD midi note off?

2003-02-17 by Polyhex .

Hello,

I'm sequencing my MD in cubase and wondered if there's a way for the MD to
respond to note-off messages to cut the triggered sound dead. i.e regardless
of the decay setting of a bass drum it stops dead when the note is released
(rather like the note cut off option in the kit edit menu but without the
hassle of programming all the notes).

I'm writing a lot of complex breakbeats and want the percusion as tight and
clipped as possible, it would be loads easier than writing in a load of
decay ctrl messages for each part......

cheers,

polyhex

As far as I know, no. On one sound you can actually do this, the E12
open hihat (I use that quite often). But for all other sounds, no.

If you record the output from the MD to audio, you could use a gate to
achieve the result you are after. Be warned though that you might want
to record the drums as separate audio tracks to have different gate
options per drum.

Hello,

Cheers for your reply.....

I will fire an email off to elektron requesting the feature...

The gate idea wouldn't really work as the I want to be able to vary the
lenght of the sounds via midi, I suppose rather like playing back samples
but without the static synthesis......

cheers.
