Hi there, I was also thinking, how close to classics you can come up with md. So I did some test with wav-files that are straight from 909/808. I tried to make md sound as close as possible. After then I put some results in web! I also tried to challenge other people to do better (because I was lazy myself doing everything). Here's the address: http://www.pixelem.fi/muut/md/ I know some are far from perfect, for example I really don't have any idea how to make 909 snare sound authnetic. By the way it seems, that those samples have seen a compressor already, but's it's ok. There is also a kit in a sysex-file. I would love to see, someone do better and would like to see how people accomplish these. So if you feel like it, try to nail a few sounds and send kit to me (I can put it up on net). Having spent 48 hours 'with machinedrum' I am totally convinced I made the right choice. I also own a korg ea-1, a yamaha dx200, a novation bass station, a juno106, a tr505, a yamaha su-10, some mixers, pedals and too many chords to carry in one trip unless you are 6'1" 250 like me. I live in vancouver, and think Richie Hawtin rules totally. Does anyone have a drumkit that is basically a 909 ? Like, the closest they have gotten to emulating it.
