mono questions

mono questions

2003-10-25 by izfunky

I am still trying to decide on getting one of the beta MM's, I guess
I was wondering what users so far have found to be the best features
about it and what special things or sounds that set it apart from
other synths. I have a decent VA synth (novation k-station), which I
am happy with and a couple other sound modules. Any comments would
be appreciated.

Also... I am not a computer expert by any means and was wondering how
difficult it is to update the OS once it is released? I basically
use the computer for email (and yahoo groups!) so can someone like me
accomplish this fairly easily? Thanks very much! -Scott

The integrated sequencer without a doubt.
You can program EVERY parameter differently on each step just by
pressing that step and twisting the knobs. This way you can come up
with some crazy stuff very easy. You can also do almost everything
without stopping the sequencer so the creative workflow with this
machine is unparalelled.

Maybe also the way in wich you can combine tracks with other tracks
and EFX tracks. This is not fully implemented yet but it's already
clear that you can do great things with it.

All in all it's a very dynamic synth with a lot of sonic potential.
If you're just looking for a sound module this may not be your best
bet, but if you're looking for an inspiring and creative tool to
make step based music this is a very likable toy.

Ronald.

From what I have heard of the MM samples it sounds
very good. The only thing that I think would be an
issue would be the lack of poly but then again with
all of those beautiful and weird sounds that come from
the MM, it still makes me drool over this synth even
more. I'm still wanting one but if I sold my Triton
Studio would it be a good trade in the end?

It depends on how much gear you have next to your Triton.
You can't compare those two, the MM just can't replace a Triton.
