Reverb overload, MD Sysex dump - Mac user

Reverb overload, MD Sysex dump - Mac user

2003-11-22 by elcastigo

Hi, I noticed that the reverb overloads on one of my songs in the
MD where it starts to make a screeching jet-like noise. This
does not happen while in pattern mode, only when these
patterns play in song mode.

I asked Elektron about this, and they asked that I send them the
sysex info (so far, so good). Unfortunately, I can't seem to get my
computer to accept this sysex information from my MOTU
Fastlane USB interface (I am using a G4 Mac). The MD says that
it is sending the messages, the Fastlane makes the obligatory
flashes that let me know that it is receiving the info, but my
computer doesn't seem to be making any kind of file for it. Any
mac users out there who can help?

Thanks in advance.

OS 9 or X ?
Software you use for recording the sysex?

- Try to swap some connections first on the USB, including disabling
any driver/peripheral not Apple or MOTU.
- Are your driver up to date. the only troubles I've had with Motu were
the original driver of the express XT not final on the CD, a simple
download helped.
- eliminate everything else from the MIDI setup (only the MD, the
fastlane and the computer)

First, thank you for the advice so far.

I'm using OS 9.2 w/ Digital Performer. If I can get the sysex to
record to DP, how can I then convert this to a file to stick into
email? I realize that this is a very basic question, but I haven't
had to do this before.

Service, it's so weird it's either something exterior to the object of
your question or bad DP manipulation

mhmm like me :) (I'm a bad boy)

Chapter 36 pf DP3 manual (all about sysex)

it's in the edition window

- new sequence
- desactivate multirecord if it's not the case (tracks window mini menu)
- in the Ed. Window, press insert
- choose system exclusive
- an input zone for sysex will appear
- enter a position in the sequence (mesure, time, tick)
- press tab to open sysex edition window
- the window opens
- if needed, enter a request for bulk dump request on top of the window
(only if the synth needs it, not necessary in this case _normally_)
- start transfert from MD
- data should show up at the bottom of the window
- click OK to save

Your doc is a sysex dump now :)

Ok - thanks very much for the detailed advice. I just moved to a
different city, so my DP manual and computer are currently in two
different places. Your help has been most appreciated!

Just thank MOTU, it's direct translation from the French DP manual :)

The most important is if it works for you.
