The knobs have been the same as long as the MD has been in
production, but the potentiometers were changed after sn. 220 or
something. The previous ones were really hard to twist, and broke
down after a few months. I think the MnM uses the same knobs and
potentiometers as the MD.

Congratulations! :-D You're in for a lot of fun!

Hold the function button while turning on the power. A screen will
appear which lets you reset (soft, hard or factory) and upgrade the
MD.

Yes.

Not as far as I know. Or maybe there is one on the function+power
screen, I'm not sure... If you remove the data wheel you'll access
the LCD contrast adjustment.

Good luck with your MD!

Nils

it's not an "option" and all the knobs have always been plastic. BUT
when the
MnM was released, it had tighter knobs with more resistance (though the
same
design). Elektron started using the same knobs on the MD at that
point. so if yours
is more than a year old, the knobs will turn a lot easier than a new
one.

yes, if you hold FUNCTION on power up you'll see "test mode" as an
option. I
know the knobs can be tested by simply turning them in test mode. I/O,
I'm not
sure about. But if it's like the MnM, test mode means that the inputs
are routed
directly to the outputs. so if you feed a line-level signal into it and
then test to
see that the output levels are the same, that can be your test :-)

have fun with your new toy.... good luck sleeping!

however. is it normal that the knobs are all wobbly?!
they work well, though i don't like the behaviour, wobbling and feeling
kinda loose :(

Is this true? Now... where do you think they hid the bugger on the
MnM?

how do you remove the data wheel from the MD?

if it's like the data entry knobs.... you grip down REALLY well and
pull REALLY hard.
