This would also make it spin continuously. Pin 1 is usually marked on the PCB, and on disk drives is usually on the end of the big connector nearest the power connector. If the machine has been opened before, it's possible that the connector has been reversed. To get the Emax II rack apart, the floppy cable needs to be disconnected because it's a little short (at least on mine). HTH Gordon.
