Emax

Hello There

I am new to the list and have just purchased a EMAX 1 keyboard s/h - I
believe it to be the standard Keyboard model as it only has 524288 k when
empty and runs Software Rev 3.2.  I haved looked extensively through the
archives and there are still a few queries that I need answered regarding my
Emax 1.

I am pessimistic but here goes!!!

1) Has anyone outthere found ANY Way at all to expand the sample memory of
my emax 1 - either with chips or a new Hard drive?


2) I use Win 2000 and a PC, What is the METHOD to get Samples from PC floppy
onto the EMAX floppies. Someone mentioned soundforge ? Does the EMX
translator only work with Win 98??

3) If I do get Soundforge sample dump working  - is it generally better
practice to sample directly into the Emax or to go into the computer and
then save the files as 16bit before dumping onto Emax?


4)what can I use the Emax 1's 9 pin  "computer interface" port  for these
days - Zip drive? An external hard drive?

I also have some advice to offer for other S/H emax buyers I bought my Emax
not working - the symptoms it displayed were randomizing samples and spewing
out noise (cool if yr into Whitehouse/Merzbow) I took it to my local repair
shop and they said that it was a problew with the power supply not getting
enough power to the memory  - it cost \ufffd30 fix! So quite a positive story
because now I have a fully working lovely Emax 1 - the only frustrating
thing is the limitation to 512 K even 1mb sample time would be better!! But
this is what I will have to make do with and I love the analog filters.
