Emax

I've got an Emax 1 hd se plus that currently has an internal hard
drive.  I would 
like to format a Zip disk connected to the external scsi connection. 
I don't think 
there is a way to specify which hd to format -the internal hd, or the
zip.  Looks 
like the existing internal drive is the only one visible to the Emax.
 

1) To format an external Zip disk would I have to disconnect the
internal hd, 
and boot the Emax from floppy?  Select format hd.

2) I also have an internal scsi Zip drive sitting around and wanted
to know if 
it's difficult to connect the wires if it were to be put in place of
my
existing internal 
hd?
