Mmmm... I expected that answer ;c)
Ok, I get what you are saying. The librarian is still a great program and will be of great use to me for sure.
The bank creation program you describe sounds perfect to me and exactly what I would want. I just want to be able to get wav files into the emax, all the editing and such would be more fun on the emax than on a computer editor, although that functionality wouldn't be terrible to have either, it is not needed.
The only thing I would think would be important would be something to calculate how much of the emax memory you have used up wit each added wav file so you don't go over the limit, and perhaps the default program having each wav file exist on one key and have that key be it's original pitch. the latter is so that if you are loading numerous short samples you will be able to find them quickly using the keys or midi for us rack users and reassign any transpositions afterwards in the emax. If you like I can create the bank with single sample per key assignment if an when you need it. just let me know what other specifications you may need.
that is my thinking on the matter as it makes the most sense to me. if it is not possible then it's not a problem. I'll take any wav importability, it's going to be so much fun.
and I understand about Chicken systems, totally understandable, although I hope to see you accomplish it.
Thanks again E.

Mmmm... I expected this question :-)
The answer is no. The program only *reads* EMAX images, it doesn't
*write* them.
However it's not very difficult to make such program.
Anyway I first want to make a stable version of the EMAX Librarian
reader software.
After this is accomplished, I can make a simple program to create
EMAX 1/EMAX 2 disk images. This program will simply take the .WAV
files you selected and will put them in "default" presets on an EMAX
disk image. This means that you will get default VCA and VCF
envelopes, a transposition of the sample to the whole keyboard etc...
That disk then can be loaded (via EMX) on your EMAX sampler.
Finishing all preset and voice parameters should be done directly on
the EMAX.
An important remark however... I'm also watching Chicken Systems. If
they succeed in supporting EMAX with their Translator software, and
they give an EMAX image creator in their free download version, I
will *not* make that software.
