Problem Solved! For anybody trying to run without a floppy disk drive (and booting from internal zip or hard drive), I've found a solution that works!!! I suspected that using a jumper somewhere on the 34-pin-out for the floppy would "trick" the E-max into thinking there was a floppy drive (otherwise it would hang on diagnostics) but I couldn't find anything here or online that pointed out which one of these pins it was or if it was even true. So, I dug out all my old hard drives and cd-roms to remove their jumpers so I could have enough to place them on all 34 pins (who has that many pins laying around!!). Anyway, to find out whether it worked or not, I put all jumpers on the board's floppy pin-out... and... IT WORKED!! I didn't want to leave all those jumpers on there so I removed one at a time, rebooting each time to see if removing that jumper would cause it not to work. The result was that only one jumper is needed to "trick" emax. This jumper must be placed on pin number 26 (and its "paired" pin). So there you go! To get rid of floppy drive, just place a jumper on pin 26 and it's done. I hope this will help others who are also looking to operate without a floppy. --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "brainztain" <digitailslide@...> wrote: > > Hi, > > I want to completely remove the floppy drive from my Emax HD because I > don't need it and will be using an internal zip drive, but it doesn't > seem to get passed the "diagnostics" screen when I do that.
