Hello, I built a scsi zip into an external case and set it to ID 0 and it does indeed boot. One thing that's different about the external zip i made vs the factory purple zips is that after the emax and the zip drive have been turned on for awhile it seems the zip goes to sleep and cannot be accessed until I powercycle the zip enclosure. It's a little annoying but not a show stopper.
