analog multiplexing out puts to the filters and vca when you modulate
the wheel the information is sampled and sent to the multiplexer which
turns the digital information into voltages to control the filters
response if the caps are down then they dont perform well and you can
get mismatched voltages making havoc with the vca and filter ic,s does
it do it on every channel

have you tried using the separate outs and seeing which one is causing
the glitching

if it from every channel then it could be the echip have you checked
the the voltage to the chip some of the chips produced was not up to
scratch so emu rather than dumping the batch they added a trim pot to
vary the incoming voltage input to each of the echips

if its the echip gone then the synth is buggard as you cant get the
chip with out scavenging another machine
