Re: Send sample from Mac via midi dump with C6 soft

2009-01-28 by poumpoumchak

Hello esynthesist,

Thanks for your answer. The idea to have a link between Mac/PC and the
emax1 (andII) is really a great hope.
As (many) a mac user(s) , I don't actually have solution to make any
evolution in the Emax1/II banks or to import existing banks, and the
old softs solutions are really difficult to use in a fluent studio
working (I have dowloaded alchemy, olds macUU and lc475,630,g4.., but
no more serial midi port).
The little midi dump soft C6 permited me to send samples from my G5 to
the emaxII, and it was for me a really great victory : i was wayting
for that since nearly 15 years : the last bank exchange i could made
was between a Prophet 2000 and Mac Sound Designer such a long ago...
And creating presets to manages these dump samples in the Emax is
really not easy with a 2 lines display...
So, the Rs422 adapter (usb?) would be really welcome an if EMXP could
be used with, it would be a new life for the Emaxs...

I tried to make a little test last week : to mount the same bank from
the EmaxII in the EIIIxp, EIVUltra, and in the Emax1 via compression
and floppy save from the EmaxII. (This was to sample and compare
results in my Daw with a same midi file play).
The compressed banks coming from the Emax II have a panning problem
when I load them on the Emax1 : I have +- 85 % of the sound left and
15% right or the inverse, depending on the banks. Did I made wrong a
step ? Is there a way to avoid this problem ?

Is it possible (with C6 or other soft) to send to the Emax1 samples
via midi dump ?
Have these samples to be 12 bits ? I tried to send 16 bits samples and
the Em1 sent me a handshaking problem answer. Is it because of the
format, or the sds implementation ?

Thanks in advance (and long way to EMXP !)
