If the Emax-I supports SDS then it would be possible to make software which uses the standard MIDI ports to send/receive complete .EM1 banks to/from the Emax. As far as I remember the Emax-II supports SDS, but I'm not sure about the Emax-I and I also don't know about the 12bit/16bit requirement (perhaps I will check this one of these days). Anyway, in both cases you have to be aware that this operation mode will be VERY slow. Sending 512K of sample data across 31.25 kBaud lines will take some time (up to minutes...). This software can be built for Windows, Mac and Linux, but at this point in time I don't have a "modern" Mac sitting here... EMXP can be extended with this MIDI dump function, but I'd rather wait with this feature until the RS422 hardware project is finished (see other messages). The advantage of the RS422 is its speed. But once I write software for RS422, I can make it compatible with full (slow) MIDI SDS also. Of course you can use already any MIDI scripting tool for Mac, but then you'll have to insert different MIDI instructions (manually ?) for each different .EM1/.EM2 bank. I guess this is not what musicians/producers call a great solution for getting a good flow in the production process :-) Related to your panning (stereo field) issue: this is most probably caused by the difference in the Emax-I "Dual Voice" definition and the Emax-II "Stereo Voice" definition. If these settings are OFF, you'll not encounter any problem. But once they're ON, the translated results can have panning problems. I know that EMXP also suffers from this: I just translated my whole Emax-II library to Emax-I with EMXP and I have panning problems too. I was thinking about changing EMXP in such way that it doesn't set Dual Voice ON (Emax-I) when the Stereo Voice is ON (Emax- II), but I'm still doubting because Emu itself is also translating these parameters like this (= when you save a bank on Emax-II into compressed format, like you did). Anyway: you could try to set Stereo Voice OFF before saving it to compressed format on an Emax-II, or you can switch Dual Voice OFF after loading it on an Emax-I. But be aware that - by doing this - you *may* be solving panning problems but *may* also be introducing other important sound differences... ///E-Synthesist --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "poumpoumchak" <cruising@...> wrote: > > Hello esynthesist, > > Thanks for your answer.
