BTW, Is the smp08 a replacement for *both* the VCA/VCF IC *and* the sample
and hold chip?  Is the VCA/VCF and sample/hold all on one IC?  I'm not a
tech....

If it's the decoupling caps that would be cool because that would probably
be the cheapest/easiest fix.

If it's the E chip then I'm looking for another Emax dead or alive....
