Re: sdemax, sound designer for emax?

having a PCI bus / slot is "requirement" for SDEMAX?

how about the mother board?

may i ask why OS7.6 the most desirable os?

i was thinking of getting a powerbook, maybe a powerbook 180 or earlier ones, as someone pointed out on this group form.

for following reasons.

1. it is relatively quite (unlike later G3 or G4)

2. do believe it is fully compatible (came out about the time of Mac SE). - it has that serial port which a special RS422 cable could be plugged in (i think it has to be built in serial interface, that is set for printer or modem. maybe there could be a possible compatibility issue. sound designer universal running on a G4 won't even recognize my usb interface though it should be able to send samples through MIDI)

3. quiet compare to desktop Macs

4. somewhat take less space

5. consumes less electricity

6. less cables

but, i do realize that getting a faster ones won't hurt. even possible to process some sample with plugins (basic eq or compressor) if any exist in OS7 or OS8...

so, if 7300 or 7600 works, maybe possible to go with later ones as G3s? they can run OS8 and has a serial port built-in. any idea on that? heard anyone using a G3 machine?

getting an Emax to full capacity is not easy!!! so ancient instrument! yet sounds damn sweet...

thanks!
