no- not required for SD for Emax. But having a PCI bus slot allows you some add on card / upgrade options for video, etc. Radeon 7000 card for better video (for example). Add in Audiomedia 3 card, if you want to run ProTools, etc. Faster SCSI adapter, etc. 7.6.1 is the last OS that is officially supported with Alchemy 3.0 which is also a really good sound editor as well as the Sound Designer. It has bank transfer via RS422 / midi to Emax also. Also- I know SD2 for Emax works on 7.6.1. OS 8 and later can result in odd occurrence / errors. My Beige G3 which I had back in the day came with OS 8. The G3 cannot run earlier than OS 8.
