How to update banks created with other operating system?

How to update banks created with other operating system?

2015-12-14 by yusteromerooscar@...

Hello,

I have a sd card running in a HXC floppy emulator with different sounds banks but they were created with the 3.2 version, recently I have updated to the SE upgrade (1.1) and when I go to the options, for example, analog processing or whatever, display show "different software rev" , How should I update these banks and enjoy with the SE features?

Thank you in advance.

If they where on floppys, you would have to update the OS on the floppy-disk.I dont know how it works with HXC, but if you get that error-message, then I guess you will have to update the OS connected to the banks..

I don’t know how to be more clear.

You made HxC images (HFE files I think?).
Each one you did with emaxos.emx which is 3.2 version of software. (except for 1 which is SE 1.1 that you successfully tested with)

You would need to take each HFE file (which has OS 3.2) and rebuild it, using SE 1.1 version of OS (which would now become the new emaxos.emx) and put THAT in each HFE file / image.

As to the Factory HD images- I don’t think you understood what I was saying here either.

1. The Factory HD images (link already provided to you) contain all the freely available PUBLIC DOMAIN non-copyrighted banks which you may use as you wish.

2. You can use EMXP to EXTRACT the banks from the HD images and save them in the computer. You would now have a copy of all the factory banks of sounds.

3. You then may take those banks and put them in your HxC HFE images.

Hopefully you have the .em1 banks saved before they were wrapped with the emax os files as .hfe with HxC software.

If not you can use the image2emax software to extract .eb1/.em1 from the .hfe files.
First you will need to convert your existing .hfe files to .img using the HxC software then you can use img2emax.

Then you can rewrap the banks with the updated OS of choice as usable .hfe files for the SD HxC FD emulator.

Ted,

I was reading through this topic because I too am trying to navigate through the process of preparing disk files for my HxC emulator-- which I'm finding incredibly complicated and frustrating so far.

But I noticed this post where you mention a link to "Factory HD images" and I was hoping you might share this link with me also, if it's no trouble.

I have about 100 factory disk images in HFE right now, some of which are useful, but unfortunately none of which were saved with SE 1.1.

None of the factory images I created are saved with SE1.1, they are PLUS 1.0 (which requires your Emax has SCSI)
BUT - you could still use EMXP to EXTRACT all the factory banks out of them.

They are in the box.com which andre setup
His email: andre@... <mailto:andre@...>

You have to be on the approved users for this.
The location is:
https://app.box.com/s/r03zzpqpvjdek3xmd2pt

Sub folder EMAX_1_EMXP_BOOTABLE_IMAGES

All the OS versions are available in the box as well….including the “4.0” versions modded to work with EmuSer USB interface.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
