Using a new disk

Using a new disk

2004-08-19 by John Bowlinger

Hey, my dad just gave me an Emax 11 keyboard a couple
days ago and I've come to the part in the manual about
sampling. It said for me to erase the bank memory for
some reason, but I didn't want to do that and risk
losing any presets. So I just bought about 40 3.5 pc
formatted floppy disks. When I put one in and tried to
do the function of Sample or any function for that
matter, I got a loud clunking noise and something that
read disk error. In fact even when I tried to do the
Master function and went to format, it did the same
thing. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help.

Hi,You wrote Emax 11 but is it 1 or 2? Notice that
when your Emax says it will erase memory, it will only
erase the current RAM memory: in other words, the
presets you've just load or the sample you've just
made. If you have an onboard hard disk, don't worry
about what is on it, it will remain the same!
The Emax just doesn't have enough memory to hold it's
whole operating system. Leave the system disk inside
your floppy drive until Emax asks you to insert a
floppy to format...

Good luck and have fun.

Sylvain, from Paris.
