Repairs and Upgrades

2007-10-04 by E. L.

Hi Everyone. I'm excited to be a part of this group. I bought my Emax
HD SE in 1989. I would like to use it again, but it has myriad problems
now. I've read most of the material regarding zip drives and upgrades
and downloaded the instructions to do various repairs. The problem is
that I am NOT good with electronic repairs and am frankly afraid of
doing them myself. I wonder if there is somewhere I can send the Emax
to have those things done. I live in SC. If not, maybe I can get some
encouragement from some of you who have done these things already!

Thanks.

So- first off we need to know what is wrong.....

Is it the floppy?
HD not working, etc?

Thx,
Ted

Well, the HD has been dead for a long time, and the LCD is
intermitant at best and when it does show me somthing, half the time,
it's gibberish.

Well- I have been seeing the LCD's pretty regularly on ebay for about
$23 + shipping. I paid $15 for mine, but special ordered and it took
3 months. So if you see one on ebay, I would get it.

I would say you would want to wait until you can see what is
happening (os loading, etc) before proceeding with other stuff.....

just my opinion.
