Re: [emax] scsi how update?????????????????

Your emax has to have SCSI support chips installed. Please go to
EmulatorArchive on the web and search in Archive there for chip details.

If you don't have correct chips, Emax does not have SCSI and you
cannot find the chips to upgrade except by buying a broken one on ebay.

Plus rather than doing HD (which old hard drive must be small and is
not very reliable), I recommend to put in compact flash drive.

Regards,
Ted

picture xm5ylx.jpg shows Revision 2 board which needs many jumpers
and traces cut for SCSI to be used. If not skilled with a solder
iron, should have a technician do the work or emax can be destroyed.

Same picture shows IC 49 with IP344, this would need to be IP356,
which is hard to get- must be gotten from a dead emax in most cases.
Binary is not available to make a new one....
IC13 is showing in ix813q.jpg. It is IP349- this would need to be
IP355, which is also hard to get. Same problem from above- binary not
available to make a IP355 chip.

Blank slot in m90ztq.jpg is where SCSI 5380 chip goes, but two chips
above must be correct or just adding this chip is no good.

See Emax SCSI retrofit guide at emulator archive.

So in a nutshell-

a) You do not have IP355 and IP356 so, no SCSI.
b) Your board would have to be modified if you are able to acquire
IP355 and IP356. Technically skilled persons only should attempt the
modification.
c) You would also need to get SCSI 5380 chip

Ted
