Has anybody got an image of disk to upgrade from emax to emax se?

Has anybody got an image of disk to upgrade from emax to emax se?

2008-07-17 by Phreak boy

according to this...
http://www.silveriafamily.com/emax/emax_repair.html

SE: Upgrading an Emax or Emax HD to SE is not as simple as getting a
copy of the correct SE OS. Before the Emax can use a SE OS it must
first have the SE Upgrade disk ran on it. For a long time this was
thought to no longer be possible. The SE Upgrade disk is a self-
corrupting installation disk that updates a special EEPROM inside the
Emax. After running it the Upgrade portion is corrupted, but the
banks are left intact. Unfortunately E-mu accidentally destroyed the
Mac that the information was stored in so not even they could create
more disks.

Fortunately, in February 2004 a list member named Carsten Ender
notified us that he had managed to make an image of an unused SE
Upgrade Disk with the EmaxUtil program available in the lists Files
section, he uploaded the image there as well. It has been succesfully
used by a fellow list member, midi_patchbay, who posted his
instructions and gave me the permission reprint them here. I have
modified his post to be more generic.

Theres no file for download on above site and the email address does
not work

Well... this file is on this yahoo group, isn't it ?
John Silveria is referring to this yahoo group.
See files section (both for the SE upgrade diskimage and EmaxUtil).
Probably you can also use OmniFlop to make a floppy disk of the SE
upgrade image, but I haven't tried yet...

Yeah, I'm not sure where the Files went. They use to be in the groups
File area. I'd have to look around on a couple of my older PCs since
I've gone through about 4 of them since that page was made on my site.
It's hard to believe, but I've been involved with this group for about
14 years now (starting with the original group pre-yahoo). A lot of
information has accumulated, but with that also means a lot of it is
very outdated or from sources that have since moved on. I more or less
just monitor the group now and approve members.

I upgraded a friend's HD to HD SE with the SE upgrade from the files section. I just followed the instructions with the files.

They still are in the files section:

seup.em1
emaxutil.exe

I have also successfully turned an Emax I into an Emax SE using that
image and a PC running DOS.

Any chance anyone is willing to make a floppy disk copy of this SE
upgrade software, for those of us not able to get a PC to run in pure
DOS mode? Willing to pay $$ via Paypal (or other form), just name
the price. Thanks!

Re: Has anybody got an image of disk to upgrade from emax to emax se?

If you have access to a Windows XP/Vista PC with floppy drive, then
you can also use the file EmaxSEUpgrade.zip in the files section.
Use OmniFlop to write the unzipped file to an Emax formatted floppy
disk.
I created this diskimage from a disk which was originally created
with the seup.em1 and emaxutil files on a DOS pc.
