Emax SE Impedance Levels

Emax SE Impedance Levels

2009-01-04 by smmcc771

Hey everyone...

I just picked up my first Emax and I'm wondering what the impedance levels are on the
stereo outs and the individual 8 channel outs. I've been searching the my owner's manual and
the internet and I can't find anything. I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to have to buy a DI
(or several) to get the most out of my new Emax SE.

Thanks!
Shayne

balanced inputs or it is a waste of time as a balanced input mixer
will have the +4dbu level as unbalanced are -10dbu if only emu did the
switching that is on the dss1 and dsm1 were you could switch between
line level signals. also another good reason for the di box is use for
earth sum removal as some of them use transformers for the balanced
out put with earth lift and this stops humming and ground loop effects.

Shayne,

Any modern line level equipment you will buy (including your emax) works
in a bridged impedence system - where the voltage signal is what's seen
to be important and there is no attention paid to power transfer.

now, these days there's 2 basic types of "line level" signals - one
references to something called +4dBu and the other references to -10dBV
but really, your mixing desk or your audio interface should have enough
gain control to go up or down as required.

So, in short, you don't need to match anything. And you don't need a D.I.
