A couple of zip-drive related questions

A couple of zip-drive related questions

2009-08-14 by Daniel Baum

Hi all,

I decided that I could't justify the more than $200 that the CF drive would cost, once shipping etc. was added in, so I'm back to a zip drive.

A couple of questions:

Is a zip drive hot swappable when connected to an Emax II?

Has anyone ever tried connecting a combined SCSI/Parallel Zip Plus to a laptop with a USB-parallel adapter. It would be great to use the zip to transfer files to and from the PC.

Also - has anyone ever tried a Jazz drive with an Emax II?

Tks.

D.

zip plus drive works the drive connects to the scsi it detects what signal is needed when it is accessed by the host controller either scsi or parrallel

zips are hot swapable as the drive is still connected to the scsi bus

jazz drives dont work

zip 250 work as do the syquest drives 230mb and internal ezflyer 130

i have for sale

3 external scsi zip 100 drives

2 ezflyer 23mb external drives

1 parrallel zip100 drive which i use with the pc to put files on via emxp and translator free

1 ez flyer 135mb internal

1 zip250mb external

A little of a side note. I just won a lot of 10 used CF drives on ebay.
Assuming they work with Emax, I will be selling them for much less than
$200.
They may be single slot use only, but they are SCSI.
I will be testing them in Emax once I get them and will give more details
later.
If they are single slot, I will sell them for $25. If multiple slots work I
will sell them for $40.

I will be keeping 1 for sure, but will resell the other 9 once confirmed
they work in Emax.

So, if they work (crossed fingers), those of you wanting to buy SCSI kits
but who have been hesitant due to, where do I get a drive?
Next couple of weeks or so you may be lucky!

If people have been thinking of purchasing other drives, you may wish to
wait a week or two....

again I will keep you posted.

PS- I saw a multiple slot multitech for $60 buy it now on ebay. Somebody
should nab it..... I considered it.

Regards,
Ted

hey ted - I definitely want one of those drives if they work for the emax.
:-)

went looking for the multitech and can't seem to find it.. maybe someone
already grabbed it, or maybe it's a US only auction?? so many used PC
bits seem to be...

Julian-

I will let you know. You already have the floppy converters......

So consider yourself as having a reservation for 2 if they work.

Would any other bits and pieces (interfaces etc.) be necessary to get them working?

need to buy a SCSI kit from me.
