Hi Tom,

It's me James Ulibarri. You've done some mods for me years ago on a 606 and
303.

http://www.eprelectronics.com/store/html/Products/E-mu-Keyboards-PARTS/E-mu-Emax/Sony-Floppy-Disk-Drive--94.html

You should be able to use any floppy drive that has a selectable ID's, but
they are hard to find. I think 95% of floppy drives in circulation were
shipped with the ID fixed, and is non selectable. But they're out there,
you just have to look on Ebay and computer stores that half old parts laying
around. You can also get one from EPR at the above link. I think they're
all gonna have a small gap at the bezel and Emax body, but if it works then
don't sweat it. People are using other drives in their too such as Compact
Flash, etc.

Hope that helps..
James

No, but be careful. Google : Route66studios...
And read the results. I had a bad experience also last year.

That's interesting, first time I heard we were out of biz. Were still rolling we just don't ship overseas any longer to many cons.

Hi Richard,
I never said you were out of business, just saying Route66 have no more drives,
at least that's what Stacy there emailed..
"Sorry we are sold out.
 Stacy at Route 66"

I suppose that sounds better than "yes we have them, but we wont sell to you as you are overseas and you might con us" :)
Do what I do, take payment in advance.

Route 66 overseas

2010-10-27 by pr_simon

Hello Richard@Route66,
Regarding overseas shipping, I placed an order early this month for some
floppy discs and actually did get it shipped to Europe, so you probably
mean it only for more sensitive electronic devices, rather than all your
catalog.

Unfortunately in my case, nothing to do with specific overseas cons, I
guess the order was just read a bit fast : more than half the floppies I
received were not the right ones. It may be a small order but since
those are hard to find/make for non-PC trained users, it can be kind of
a big deal!
I inquired for replacement policy in such cases but still haven't got an
answer after a week (whereas, when considering the order, I got a quote
within hours)
So since I notice your intervention below is from yesterday, allow me to
try my luck here at the same time

My order was :

- Emu EMAX Plus SE/HD OS v1.0

- Ensoniq Mirage Format Disc Set

- Ensoniq Mirage MASOS 2.0 OS disc no manual

I received :

- "Mirage Format Disc" twice the same label (no indication if they are
indeed part of a set or, in such case, which part each one is, so i
assume it is twice the same disc)

- Emu EMAX SE/HD OS v1.1 (not plus)

- no Mirage MASOS at all

Thanks

Jeremie

Your Mirage discs are correct you should have one Format disc and one Masos. Maybe the labels are wrong, have you tested them? Let me know. The Emax SE/HD disc is the plus disc sorry it's not worded the same, I will fix that.

Re: Route 66 overseas

ah great,
Ok so only the labels would be wrong?
My emax's LCD is currently down so i can't test if the disc is indeed the plus OS right now.
As for the Mirage MASOS (slightly off topic!), any tips on what I should look for when inserting each disc, to know if they're not the same and which is which?

Thanks!

I will fix this for you if it's just the labels I can send the correct ones.
Damn can't belive that happened, ok... The format disk when inverted will say FD on the display the other will boot the unit.

Sorry about that Jeremie
