mounting a slim floppy and PCD-50B into an emax 1

mounting a slim floppy and PCD-50B into an emax 1

2011-12-30 by brendanrenne@...

so I got the floppy drive working, I got the card reader working and everything is great except for the fact that they're just kind of floating around inside my emax 1. Neither device came with mounting hardware, nor do they fit onto the existing plates (the one the original emax 1 hard drive was mounted to and the mounting plate that also houses the pitch bend and mod wheel). Currently I am planning on getting clamps or something and trying to sandwich the floppy between the existing mounting plate and the PCD-50B, but there must be a better way! any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If in a keyboard....
The holes for the PCD-50b on the bottom match up with the old floppy, though you need different threaded screws.
From there I made flat metal brackets that attach to the side of the PCD-50b.
Mount the slim floppy on top
the hole distance from the side holes front to back for PCD-50b and slim floppy are the same.
From the holes up and down is .9 inches.
The slim floppy mounts with 2.6MM screws and use spacers to shore it up.
The 2.6MM screws are available at hobby shops selling RC car parts.
Duratrax sells a baggie that is an assortment.

i did the same as ted i brought some hard drive extension plates so that you
can fit more hard drives in a pc they are just metal plates with the corect
size and spacing holes

you need to put some rubber washers under the plate and the cf drive so that
it sits correct

they are 3mm screws

the slim floppy is about 5mm smaller in size so you need to add rubber
washers to space it properly

i just cut the 3mm screws to the right length

so you fit the slim floppy to the cf drive remember they have to go upside down so that when the sampler is the right way up the drives will also be the right way up

if you space it corectly the slim floppy will pass throught the hole

the cf drive is bigger than the hole so it only buts up to the opening but sits perfectly

they look good its a pity they never made them in black as it would look much better
