Northstar CDs & EMXP

Northstar CDs & EMXP

2012-09-10 by Ted Summers

I was going to read in via EMXP the Northstar CDs Volumes Max 1,2,3 for purposes of building images.

However, neither of my 2 CD drives seem to be able to read them.

Anyone successfully convert these, or know of a limitation?

Thanks,
Ted

northstar versions i have are sd2 format that i saved with

sounddesigner2

but the limitations on those sample banks is that the EII transpose engine is better than the emax1

becuase when you convert the uptranspose of the EII is higher than the emax 1

so that you get 1 or 2 notes playing the same frequency so that you have to adjust the keymaps

I have heard complaints about this before.
Those CDs seem to be rather "weakly" burned.

Trying to make images from them with CD burning software seems to be almost impossible too. It's unclear why.
As far as I know MagicIso (the older free version) may be capable to make an ISO image of these Max cdroms... and I think someone also succeeded in making a Max cdrom image with ChickenSys software.

So I suggest you try to make an ISO image of the cdroms first, and then read these images in EMXP instead of directly accessing the cdroms in EMXP.
Or did you try to make ISO images already ?

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
