If EMXP won't work, I'm willing to PAY someone to make EMAX sound disks

If EMXP won't work, I'm willing to PAY someone to make EMAX sound disks

2013-10-23 by windrumscoggin@...

I have always been one to get my hands dirty and do things on my own but barring my ability to ever get a functioning version of EMXP to ever work on my system

(my last ditch effort today is to start with a clean install on Windows Vista instead of WinXp)

I would be willing to pay someone to transfer the EMAX sound libraries from the user group onto Zip disks/CF cards for me as well as provide me with a bootable Plus OS disk.

Any takers?

Name your price

Thanks

Jammie is really dig if you could take some of your own images and drop them onto SD cards for me...that'd be cool.
Being Ted is in Oregon and close to me he's gonna send me a plus OS disk so I can boot my Emax into it to verify that I can indeed see external SCSI drives. Once that's been verified is love to buy sound SD cards from anyone legit whose offering them
Thanks!

i only use cf cards sd cards can be problematic and the cf cards are seen as hd
i use cf cards with all my machines and i have them in many sizes
the emu emax best is 32mb or 64mb if you cant get 32mb
the emax2 can save 100 banks so a 1mb machine a 512mb is fine and is also good for 2mb emaX 2 and 4mb
the 8mb version requires a 1gb as it can format upto 800mb 8mb banks times 100 bank locations
the ensoniqs can see upto 8gb cf cards the k2000 2gb the k2500 and above can have 8gb upwards as it makes partitions of 2gb
akai up untill the mpc2000xl can see 600mb max so a 1gb or 512mb is fine same for the rolands max hd size is 600mb
emu,s lator samplers can have massive gb sizes and the fat 32 eos version 4.7 can have 36gb and up
the yamaha ex5 can only see 2gb and the a series can have 8gb in partitions

20mb is the maximum that they can see its encoded into the rom and with out the original code blocks and essembler theres no way of adding bigger support

in fact if we could get the code blocks with out reverse engineering we could add wave support and usb

as is done on the dss1 and the latest on the dsm1 with 16 res control of each voice chip

RE: Re: Re: [emax] If EMXP won't work, I'm willing to PAY someone to make EMAX sound disks

So, then, how do we go about finding someone that can reverse engineer
the original code blocks and essembler ?
Either that, or someone needs to invent EMU 20MB SD cards cause 236 MB is an awful shameful waste. Its too bad someone just cant format the SD card into 12 partitions that could be seen by the Emax as twenty different drives....Now THAT would be doin it smart...or has someone already thought of that and figured in a 'No-Go' situation?

RE: Re: [emax] If EMXP won't work, I'm willing to PAY someone to make EMAX sound disks

2013-10-23 by windrumscoggin@...

Yeah, My E5000 is a great machine..a hell of a wonderful sampler I wish I could get those Old Emax sound libraries on CD ROM & load into my E5000 via SCSI then save to the internal HD I installed. E-series samplers are absolutely gorgeous sounding machines..Beats the CRAP out of any SoftSampler I have ever listened to..Kontakt, Mach5 etc etc all just sound sterile as hell in comparison to a REAL EMU sampler...Yeah, they massive sound libraries and gads of memory but IMHO, coming 'out of the box' they are just like the emulations of analog synths that are all the rage right now...they get kind of, er, well, sort of close..but anyone with a good ear can tell the difference between the Mini-V from Arturia and a REAL minimoog..Maybe Not so much in a busy mix but take 5 hardware, analog synths and a real rack sampler and write the same song ITB with V-synths and samplers and I bet I can tell the difference right off...as I bet you guys could too...
Anyway, I have a 7 disc SCSI CDROM with a Nakamichi drive..called a 'Mountain CD7 External SCSI 7 Disc CD-ROM Changer'. The thing works great with my E-5000
I'd love to be able to use it with my Emax, but Ted says the Emax is realll finnicky about the SCSI CD roms it will see.
I think EMU really got it right with the E-series samplers and its a shame that softsynths and Virtual crap put them out of business.
I went to UAD in Scotts Valley the other day, as my UAD card took a dive. I traded it in for a direct exchange replacement and a LOT of the people that used to work over at EMU back in the day (dock people, shipping and handling and even a few technical types) NOW work for UAD
Huh
Small world.
Hows that for nostalgia
