Hi Rob,

(Still owe you a private reply to some other mail... I just 
forgot...) Anyway, no, aiff should be fine -- I use wav, aiff and 
sd2, and they all work fine.  If you load the new instrument (which 
produces noise) and then open the Instrument Editor, does the 
instrument still look okay?  Right samples in the right spots?  If 
you click the keyboard in the Instrument Editor, does that produce 
the same noise, or does the instrument now sound okay?
