Haven't used it much yet, but it's pretty good -- within the limitations of a sample library, that is. It's no substitute for a real analog synth obviously, since it's less 'tweakable' because of it's being sample-based. On the other hand, the range of sounds they used is quite broad, and covers most 'classical' analog sounds. So if you're looking for e.g. a fat Moog-bass, chances are good you'll find it in the library. If I had to put it in one sentence, the verdict would be "a good general purpose library with a broad range of analog sounds for people who don't want to spend too much time tweaking their own sounds". If you want to turn 10 knobs and faders simultaneously to achieve that whizz-bang weirdness-extravaganza effect you're after, then you're better of getting a real synth. Regarding the ES1: I've used it a bit in Logic-4 days and was _not at all_ impressed by it. House-techno-dance basses and base drums: fine. But for the rest...??? I don't know if it has changed much since v4, but if not, I would never consider spending money on it. Seems to me that the ES2 would be a better option. Or, if you're really into wild sounds and extreme flexibility, get NI's Absynth for example. For classical analog there's NI's Prophet 5 emulation, the Pro-53. OTOH, I've heard bad things about NI support and their AU-conversions, so I don't know if anyting NI-related is a good idea at this point in time. -- Hendrik Jan Veenstra h @ k n o w a r e . n l Omega Art: http://www.omega-art.com/
