Thanks Hendrik, That's nutty, IMO. I heard back from ApplEmagic regarding this, and they said as much. The odd thing is, NONE of the "supported" controllers listed in the EXSP manual have any effect at all. I'm using EXSP with Digital Performer, and all my other softsynths (and hardsynths) respond to any controller they support. Could it be a VST Shell problem? Any DP users out there?
