This may have to do with Copy Protection. Perhaps EW feels that if
their sample collection is converted to EXS, it will be more attractive
to upload to pirate servers, because many people have cracked versions
of EXS.
Do you think Bernard (who I respect completely, btw) would get a
positive response if he tried the same thing with Spectrasonics
instruments, Yellow Tools' Culture, Candy, FXpansion's BFD, etc?
Sure it's a shame that we don't have the same situation as we used to
when AKAI was the standard, but then again, if you put yourself in the
position of the manufacturers, you've got to admit that they had to do
_something_ to protect themselves a bit more (yes, I'm sure that there
are cracks for everything).
I'm sad to hear about the censorship.
