I am currently working my way through GOS and carrying out the tasks listed below. If anyone thinks I have got my ideas wrong than please write correcting my assumptions. 1. Removing WARM instruments. These can simply be reproduced by using a channel eq. 2. Renaming Instruments to create shorter names as there is a limit in EXS and excessively long names get their ends turned to BinHex? 3. Not sure about this one since I'm now only using OSX and if I revert to OS9 (other than by running classic) some of my drives which contain files with long names may suffer the same fate if I start in OS9 and open a folder. Oh the point here is that I think in OS9 (or could it earlier versions of Logic) the conversion of gig files results in sets of instrument which start with their name whereas now I am getting numbered instruments from 00 onwards. This means that where long names aretruncated their is less confusion where the names after the number appear to be thesame. This is particually useful as I am trashing all instruments which end ALT 88 and just relying on the ALT version but you have to load then to check which is which. 4. I am setting all EXP instruments correctly so they switch samples from the mod wheel and grouping them in a separate sub folder 5. After I have completed this rather mamoth task I will backup all GOS instruments to DVD. 6. If anyone thinks it would be useful to have a copy of these edited instruments write to me for further details. Note sample will need re-referencing in EXS manager.
