Hi Sam,

I wondered the same thing when I first switched to OS X. I quickly
realized that the functionality is built into the CD driver now. So
just double click the CD icon and drag the tracks to your desktop or
hard drive; and they will be extracted there.

One thing though; check the permissions on the newly created files
after you do this. I'm not sure how the permissions are "governed" with
this new functionality. I have found that sometimes I need to set them
myself and sometimes I don't. And I haven't quite figured out the cause
and effect that determines which specific circumstances warrant going
in and setting them manually. Maybe it's got to do with which drive I
extract them to; I'm not certain.

And if you extract a bunch into a specific folder; you can of course
change the permissions for all the files at once by selecting the
folder icon and doing it from there, and clicking the option that
applies the permissions to all of the folder's contents.
