Thank you all so much for your suggestions.

I recreated the song copying each sequence into the new song.  Still 
problems.  When looking at the contents of all the sequences in the 
list window, there were about 10 sequences that had all kinds of random 
midi messages in them.  Never figured out where they came from, but I 
copied the pertinent information from each of the sick sequences into a 
new sequence and deleted the sick one.  My piece has been stable for 
about  24 hours.  This is good.  I've exported the "clean" song file as 
a midi sequence in the case that things get messed up again.

Thanks again for all the help.  I hopeful that I'm out of the woods on 
this one.
