Re: [EXS] Yamaha Grand included with v7

2004-12-08 by Ned Bouhalassa

Hello Jeremy,

The only pianos I have are The Old Lady and Malmsjo. I didn't even know
about the Yamaha in my Logic 7! Now that I do, I will... erase it! Now,
it's not because it's so bad, more because I can always use a spare 1/2
Gb or so, right? ;-)

Comparing the Yamaha to the Malmsjo is, IMHO, useless. They are much
too different. In fact, I could say the same about the Old Lady. Both
of the other pianos are like fine, old wines. They have 'character',
you can hear the body in the sound. The Yamaha sounds like an upright
piano in a practice booth. If you like vanilla, then be my guest! I
find the Yamaha in EXS to be bland, especially in the softer dynamics.
It just doesn't inspire me at all. There are sooooo many piano sales
these days (did you see the two new ones at northernsounds.com?), the
only reason not to get one is if you're saving up for a bigger
purchase!

My 1.60 Cnd cents,

Ned
