EXS 24 Logic Sampler Users Group

I'm trying to import some Akai disks into EXS-24, and I suspect the 
problem I'm having is a system one, not with EXS-24. When I insert
the 
disk, the drive seems to read it for a couple of seconds, then goes 
dead. Nothing appears in the Akai CD import screen. My computer
doesn't 
freeze up or isn't otherwise adversely affected; the disk just isn't 
recognized.

I have a 500 MHz G4 running 9.1 with a 2.6 GB DVD-RAM. I've never had 
any problems with the drive before. Any suggestions?
