Unless this has changed dramatically in Logic 7 (which I doubt), you can
specify a specific drive for sample searching. It's in the EXS editor >
preferences.
The downside of that: You can only specify ONE drive. So if you have samples
used by yet "unassigned" patches, the EXS won't find them at all.
