Have you tried to <refresh> in EXS24?
These instruments are located in:
~/Library/Application Support/Garageband/Instrument 
Library/Sampler/Sampler instruments

(see my earlier post about where Apple decides THEY want things to be!!

The version of GB should not make any difference.
