Refresh isn't an issue. I've restarted several times. The instruments 
are in fact in the proper Garage Band folder. I "eyeballed them" in the 
Finder just to make sure. The only thing I can think of is that maybe 
with all the old and new instruments plus the unnecessary alias, etc; 
that maybe I'm reaching the maximum number limits of instruments? I'll 
investigate this further and report back.

And yes, the info on your site was very helpful. I have my head around 
where everything goes now. And as such, can and will easily incorporate 
Apple's preferred file management/location
