Hi Eli,

I kept having all kinds of EXS related problems before I came to the following workaround:
1. Leave all factory sampler instruments where they are, I.E. /library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments;
2. Move all your custom instruments to your home folder, I.E. ~/library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments (you have to create one if it still does not exist);
3. Make an aliase of the instruments folder you've just moved your instruments to and put it to your L6 folder (9 and X), alternatively remove L6 folders from your L7 partition if you don't have plans to use L6 any longer;
4. In case you still have problems, remove the instruments partition from your home folder, start Logic 7 and let the Progect manager scan the drive without your custom instruments. This way it will re-assign samples to the factory and GarageBand instruments as it originally assigns samples to your custom instruments with the same name in your home folder if those exist.

Just my $0.02.

Best,

Andy
