I often use an Alesis DM5 to do this. The DM5 has 12 trigger inputs on the back which will generate a MIDI note whenever a signal arrives. I use this live and in the studio for drum replacement (you have to move the MIDI notes a little earlier to take account of the DM5's triggering delay which is pretty short). I guess you're looking for a solution within Logic though in which case you might try Audio to MIDI Groove?
