A better place is the same folder in your user directory.
( yourname/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments)
You may have to create the a folder called "Sampler Instruments".

See above. Your samples can be anywhere though. I keep all my samples
on a separate drive. Easier for me to stay organized, easy backup etc.
If you only have one drive, you may want to just create a folder for 
your samples,
but it's just a matter of preference.

Open project manager, navigate to your "sample instruments" folder.
Functions > "Find unresolved file references for selected items".

This is in the manual, by the way. :)
