Hi,
the problem is simply that you have too many instrument files.
The Exs24 instrument menu in Logic Windows 5.5 has a limitation in 
that it won't open if you have more than (roughly) 10000 instruments.
As you say, you can use the control window, but it's messy...
 
Suggestion: keep around only the useful instrument files.

i was running EXS Manager as i was reading your respond and noticed 
there were over 12,000 instruments in the Sampler Instruments 
folder. like you suggested, i am going to clean up some of the 
unused instruments and hopefull that will eliminate the problem.

since i have your attention, i might as well ask you about EXS 
Manager and the VSL Strings library (EXS). EXS Manager has quit 
twice while scanning the samples folder. is there a compatibility 
issue between EXS Manager and VSL, or could it be just a bad file? i 
could write down the exact error message, since it does ask to 
report the error to Redmatica.
