Using the multiple instances approach you can still real time play on just one instance and then use the "demix by note pitch command" or if you've done some sound edits and want to do your real time performance with those sounds in place you can use the rarely mentioned "Mapped Instrument" and do it very elegantly. Sure it's a bit more environment cabling but not much really and using it opens up another set of possibilities not possible without.
