Apple did include FW800 ports on the last updates to the PowerMac G4 in late 2002, several months before the G5 was released, and continued to include them on the G4 PowerBooks after that. In the pantheon of G4's, however, these units with FW800 actually are pretty unusual. It was with the G5's that FW800 became ubiquitous, at least partly because there were virtually no FW800 devices previous to their release.
