Do you think I can save all my programs from within the >sampler on zip or an external HD and get them from there from within the exs >Akai dialogue? Not sure if I understand the question - it sounds like a repeat of the first question; forgive me if I misunderstand. The EXS convertor only recognizes CD-ROM Drives, not anything else - not a ZipDrive or a hard drive. That's what is helpful with the external programs I mentioned - they access virtually every other media, usually do a better job with the translation, and show status info, and generally are more reliable. >what is a one step translation? It's when you can convert the source format directly into the desired format. To contrast, a two-step translation is like this: Someone with a PC has a .krz file (a Kurzweil file/set of programs with samples), and really likes it and wants to play it on his/her EXS. So he/she uses Awave to translate it to a SoundFont file. He/she then can load this into EXS. Mike Ziemba (sic) (hey Mike!) suggested this as well about a week ago - he said, if you want Roland->EXS, get Osmosis or the Online Demo in a pinch, translate to SampleCell, and then load into EXS. That's a two-step. Two-step translations, while a smart way to convert sounds, are more prone to poor translations, since it's going through two steps. What the first step will mask out can't get to the destination, and plus it increases the possibility of the loops, tunings, or maps to be incorrect. But it's a working system - no reason not to do it. A one-step with EXS is when you have a convertor program, or the native convertors that Emagic chooses to put in EXS, that translates directly into the sampler or into a EXS file. Usually preferred. (Plug for Translator: you can make Akai CD-ROM's with Translator, by the chance that you really want to use the EXS's convertor.) * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * | Garth Hjelte | | Customer Service Representative, President | | Chicken Systems, Inc, Rubber Chicken Software Co. | | 714 5th Street SE | | Willmar, MN 56201 USA | | | | 800-8-PRO-EPS Toll Free Order Line (US Only) | | 320-235-9798 Tech Support, Sampler Questions | | International Line | | 360-838-7689 Fax | | Product Sales: sales@... | | Product Support: support@... | | Sampler Q+A: qa@... | | Web Page: www.chickensys.com | * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
