Hello to all,

I received and installed yesterday a PMI Piano (Steinway D, 5.2GB) which
sound incredibly beautiful and dinamic, when PLAYING IT SLOWLY. The problem
is that apparently the Power Book or the EXS can't handle this size of
instrument easily. When playing the piano normally, you have to almost
literally wait until the RAM reads the information of each note or chord you
are playing, but you cannot play smoothly. So, it's not practical to use
this piano with the computer/sampler configuration that I have. The same
problem happened to me earlier with a set of 500MB pianos (10 times
lighter!: the iPianos). They are also from PMI, made for Apple's Garage Band
but can be used in the EXS sampler, and are working perfectly smooth in
Garage Band (!) but not in the EXS without trouble.

Although this Steinway D piano is not small (5GB), what about if I would
like to install bigger pianos of 14GB or 15GB, or even the Ivory (40GB!); it
would be impossible. Anyway, I just want to be able to play my 5GB piano
SMOOTHLY and in peace. Could it be possible?

I would not like to know that I could only play smaller and "cheapy" pianos
in my EXS super sampler because I don't have a G5 or a newer Mac Book Pro
with a lot RAM (anyway the top capacity of RAM in my Power Book is 2GB). As
a question, people with older systems can't play these kind of sampled
instruments? I would like to know from other musicians having similar
computer and software configuration, what happened to them when playing
their BIG pianos. Please advise me.
