when my disk was about to die I could only copy VERY quickly the files to another drive
without time to worry about trees and file linking. If you know where your individual
samples are and you know where your exs instument files are you should be able to relink
things by hand without too much trouble.
Use the <f> find function of the OS to locate individual samples. Or do you have problems
with the instrument files? You need to locate them in the same fashion. Then you can
create aliases <l> and drag the aliases into the instrument folder, which is inside library/
application support/logic. thie library folder can be both in the users files or the main
library folder.
disk repair doesn't help you unless your disk is damaged. the disk utility does a good job
at repairing trees etc. otherwise you may look into "drive genius".
I read a lot here about exs manager but I don't understand the use of it. I think it is more
important to know exactly where your stuff is.

all the best

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
